Porcelain Veneers
Are you troubled by chips, cracks or stains on your teeth? Would you prefer to have straighter, evener teeth, but can’t stand the idea of going through a long orthodontic process?
Porcelain veneers can correct a wide variety of common aesthetic teeth problems and can be used alone or with other cosmetic or restorative-dentistry procedures. If your teeth are discoloured, chipped or misaligned, they can be transformed into a whiter, brighter, beautifully designed smile with porcelain veneers.
Dental veneers cover either the tooth’s facial or front surface as a way to enhance the shape and colour of your teeth, closing up spaces between your teeth and covering up significant dental staining like those caused by tetracyclines. Teeth veneers are applied in much the same way that acrylic fingernails are applied to your natural nails, only your dental veneers will permanently be in place.
How are dental veneers applied?
During your first visit to the team at Rdent, we’ll use a local anaesthetic in order to reduce the tooth or teeth by approximately 0.5mm-2.0mm before taking an impression of the teeth to send to our dental laboratory for the fabrication of your veneers.
Usually, your dental veneers will take about two weeks to produce, and depending on the amount of reduction needed, we may or may not fit a temporary restoration to your teeth whilst you wait. Whilst you’re waiting for your porcelain veneers to be fitted, you may experience a slight sensitivity to hot or cold.
During your second visit to Rdent, we may use a local anaesthetic for your comfort whilst we fit your new veneers. We will thoroughly clean and prepare your teeth before placing the veneers and fixing them in place with a resin material and curing or hardening it with a special curing light.
Dental veneers are a long lasting solution for a natural, bright smile
Dental veneers come in a number of different porcelain and plastic composites, and we’ll discuss your options with you ahead of time to find the material best suited to your lifestyle. Typically, porcelain veneers will last about 15 years, but often last longer with proper care and maintenance. Porcelain veneers not only resist staining, they reflect light and offer some of the strongest and most natural looking restorations available.
